Rio Johnson secured an impressive unanimous decision victory over international opponent Thristan Massobrio at the inaugural 8STRIKES event in London on 13 June 2026.
Competing in an A-Class Muay Thai contest at 63.5kg (140lb), Rio stepped into the ring wearing 4oz gloves for a three-round battle against the experienced Italian-French fighter.
Massobrio was no stranger to high-level competition, having previously challenged Karl Ryan for the WBC Muay Thai International Super Lightweight Title in September 2025. Despite facing an experienced international opponent, Rio delivered a strong performance across all three rounds, securing a unanimous decision victory from the judges.
The event marked the first-ever show for 8STRIKES, a new British combat sports promotion founded by Charlie Herdman, which launched in London on 13 June 2026. Rio’s victory made it a memorable debut event for both the promotion and BKK Fighters.
The win also marked three consecutive victories for Rio, following his success against Amar Moti in October 2025 and Flyn Shanks in February 2026. This latest result demonstrates Rio’s continued progression and growing experience in competitive Muay Thai.
Representing BKK Fighters in Colchester, Rio continues to build momentum and establish himself as an exciting talent in the sport.
A fantastic achievement for Rio and another proud moment for everyone at BKK Fighters!
